For the 37th issue of  SCOUT Magazine’s print edition I was the lead designer overseeing the entirety of the layout and working with contributing photographers, illustrators, and stylists—both food and clothing—for the visuals of the articles.

Magazine spread with title 'Food for the cosmos' on a blue background, featuring a photograph of a tall glass filled with orange juice, topped with a granola bar and fruits including an orange, apple, and lemon on a blue background.
A hand holding a yellow mustard bottle with a green cap and nozzle, positioned below a burger bun, meat patty, and cheese, with an orange background on the left side. On the right side, a hand holds a pair of chopsticks with noodles, against a red background.

This involved not only communicating with these contributors to ensure their work was elevated by the work I did, but also in developing the pitch decks that were sent to the talent and brand teams who agreed to lend their likenesses and product to the issue.

An open magazine with article about a Filipino woman making history at NASA, featuring a photo of a woman in a lab coat standing outdoors, smiling, with her hand raised.

From there I worked to unify the text and images into a singular visual style which respected the work of the contributors, honored the vision of SCOUT, and communicated my own artistic vision for what a magazine can do visually.

Open magazine on a yellow surface with black and white photos, text about Santa Rosa, Laguna, and a parking lot with cars.

The print version was distributed to different college campuses, bookstores, and magazine sellers nationwide.

Some of the articles were also republished on SCOUT’s website and the visuals were adapted to the online medium.

A woman wearing black sunglasses, a black sleeveless top, and silver jewelry leans on a rooftop with a blue sky and clouds behind her. A man in a dark jacket, light blue shirt, and black baseball cap is seen partially, sitting against a backdrop of sky and rooftops.
